Our mission is to preserve, share and celebrate the history and contributions of the people living in Camden Point, Dearborn, Edgerton, New Market and Ridgely through programs, presentations and exhibits and building community. Music in the Museum was held June 2025.
North Platte Historical Museum and Cultural Center is a 501 non-profit entity located at 210 Main St, Dearborn MO.
In honor of founding member and lecturer Steve Goodlet, our in-house presentations are the Steve Goodlet Memorial Lectures. In February 2025, "Educating Our Daughters The Camden Point Female Academy/College was presented at the Camden Point Firehouse with a free meal at 5pm and lecture at 5:30. The following month the history of Edgerton MO, based on Steve's notes, was presented at the Edgerton branch of Mid-Continent Library.
We're building community through monthly exhibits on local history, people, and events. These include quilt shows, honoring high school graduates and teachers, Reminisce Day, TWA display, Veterans, local artists show, vintage photos of our towns, and Christmas in Dearborn. We've hosted a Victorian Tea Party, fried funnel cakes at Pioneer Days and sold baked goods to benefit the local American Legion and the museum.
